Very Good Question!
Well I suppose we'd best start off by introducing the game a bit more so you actually know whats going on!
Ok so the game is basically a real time strategy, each day real time equates to 1 month game time. Every now and again the mods will need to stop the game for a day so that we can get on top of the moderating and try to keep the game flowing quickly.
For your nation you will need to decide the best route for it to achieve power, wealth and glory. There are primarily a numer of ways you can achieve these points. First is through Military power, conquer the whole land and prove yourself the new Artur Hawkwing. Another method you could attempt is to overpower nations using your economy. Become such a trading power that no-one can mach your wealth. Alternatively you could attempt to use subterfuge (assassins, spies etc.) to manipulate your enemies into submission. The final option is to succeed through Diplomacy, Talk your way out of trouble, improve your wealth through diplomatic dealings with other nations, crippling them in the process.
Ultimately the best option is to use a mixture of these techniques. Arguably the easiest to pull off is the Military approach, however this can leave you vulnerable in other areas of the game.
To help you decide on what course may be most compatable with your nation you should analyse your nations stats. See how your military might compares with your neighbours, see how many tradeable goods you have etc. To do this go to the category of 'Matters of the State' on the home page. Find your nations personal page and enter. You will need a password to enter the board, you can find this in an email that one of the mods will have sent you. In this secret board you will find a thread called your nation stats, this will give you indepth info on your nation.
Reforms:
After you have decided on the course of action you want to take you will need somewhere to make changes to your nations set-up. On the Home page is a board named 'Reforms', in this thread you will find an example post, and some ideas to help you along. When you think you know what you want to change open a new thread and title it Your Nations Reforms. In this thread you can make reforms, then a moderator will come and mark the reforms and apply the consequences to your nations stats.
Here are some of the areas you may wish to improve in your nation through your reforms:
What to do after you've posted your reforms:
There are a number of extra threads that haven't been explained yet. So here is what you can do with them:
Trading with the Atha'an Miere.
They are always open to trade (obviously you need to have a port) and have alot of resources to trade with you. However they drive a hard bargain, so watch your purse! If you are looking for a certain product and you can trade by a large port then you can attempt to trade for it using the Athan'an Miere board. Set up a thread and post how much of something you want along with what you are looking to give in return. A moderator will come along and decide whether or not the transaction is feasible (the likelihood is that they will propose a counter offer). Then you will have the oportunity to accept orr reject the offer. (N.B please use one thread for your nation so as to attempt to keep everything neat.)
Diplomacy.
You may have noticed this board on the home page. Basically this is where you publicise any diplomatic treaties so that everyone can see. You will not invite and decide on terms here though. That part of diplomacy should take place via personal messaging.
Battles.
Battles will take place outside of the game time. You will receive 1 days notification to write your battle plan on the military board in your personal area. If you have not written down a battle plan then the senior military person will take charge and create the strategy (you will also need to write down what you would like the army doing afterwards, else they might get drawn into an ambush or wander off for some fun). The Battle board at the bottom of the home page will be where the outcomes are written, with a brief description of how it played out.
On a last note; Pay attention to your public happiness, it will swing from good to bad depending on times, if it gets too bad then you may find yourself with a rebelion on your hands and few workers to bring in revenue!!
If I have missed anything out please PM me and I will get right onto it.
Otherwise happy conquering!!
